On this page I will tell you about Philips, the well-known Dutch lamp brand. I myself went to the Philips Museum in Eindhoven. I gained a lot of experience there. now I'm going to tell you the history of the brand: Philips

On May 15, 1891, Frederik Philips and his son Gerard signed the contract. Their company was called Philips & Co. They bought their company in Eindhoven for little money. The company started out with the manufacture and sale of light bulbs.

in 1895 Philips went more international. The younger brother Anton Philips started traveling all over Europe to sell light bulbs.

In 1900, Philips was already one of the largest light bulb factories in Europe. Around 1914, Philips started producing razors and X-ray machines. after the second world war they would come on the market.

Philips came up with countless new inventions. The halogen lamp, gas discharge lamp, cassette tapes, etc. Philips sales were now active in 150 countries.

in 1980 the first energy saving lamp from Philips was unveiled. Philips immediately started mass production of this lamp.

in 1991 Philips turned 100 years old. a book was made of this with all the inventions of Philips. this book was written by Pieter Lakeman

The brand Indal was taken over by Philips in 2007, this company took over Industria a few years back. Indal made and rebranded some Industria fixtures.

Around 2009 the first Philips LED lamp was introduced, with it now being in nearly every house. And taking over the CFL's

At the moment things are not going well with philips, many people have been fired and philips has made many blunders, will the still make it?

This was the history of Philips, here some of the more popular Philips fixtures:

The Philips TB200, one of the most iconic pendant fixtures back then, the had many version but all of them contained MV bulbs

Another pendant fixture of Philips was the Philips SORA, a enamel fixture with LPS inside, there were 4 versions and some twin lamp versions.

The Philips SRM, personally my most favorite fixture of all time. With it having 2 versions, small and big.

Ofcourse we couldn't forget the Philips SRS201 (MA) fixtures, the had many versions and were very popular as here in the Netherlands and in Great-Britain.

And goodbye to the LPS fixtures, The HPS era has arrived. And so come the First gen Iridium, also had many version as of generations. The newest one being the Gen4 with LED

The Philips Luma, the fixture that 'destroyed' my hometown. On the picture you see some gen2 luma's. One of the more popular led fixtures in the Netherlands.

These were some of the fixtures, also take a look at there website!
